Though I've just submited a few icons to the ObjectDock skin area, I've been a visiter and registered user of WC for a long time. One thing easy to see is, there are too many icons for the "famous" programs, like Photoshop, Winamp, WMP... As I know, a lot of people use many other programs on their PC, and they can't find their OD icons anywhere, as well as they do not know how to create one themselves (as in my case before).
So, why don't we have an "open area" for those OD users to request for their favorite programs' icons? And those who can use graphical apps can create them. It's also a chance to improve your skills isn't it ?
I'll be the first... Any one need an icon? You can send me a screenshot of the origin icon, and I'll try to make it an OD one (128, 256, in PNG or ICO...).
Not so good in graphik, so I need the help from the pro gd!

I dont't mind answering those questions at all Wrelt...I use Photoshop almost exclusively to design my icons...sometimes I'll use Fireworks.
I don't use icon developer at all.
and I have created one icon suite found here:
Link
there are several additions to it (other posts containing more icons with the same look) just run a search using the icon suite name.
Thanks for the great comments and I hope you'll get some use out of the icons

RE: #737. I know bandit put one up but I wanted to take a stab at it as well. It's awaiting moderation.

bandit4edu-if you dont use icon developer then what do you use?
on Jun 22, 2006
I use Adobe Photoshop, Wrelt, that's all...dont need anything else
why? do you see a benefit for me in icon developer?
on Jun 22, 2006
They all passed! finished and through moderation and in the gallery as we speak!

yes!!!!

I was just wondering how you make icons with Adobe Photoshop- I never knew you could.

Bandit4edu-if you use icon developer you can make windows icons-not just object dock.So yes i think there is a benefit in icon developer.

Windows? never heard of it!
seriously, Wrelt.....I prefer a minimalistic desktop...put up a nice looking wall, use Object Dock with a nice transparent background that hides the icons when you're not using them....hide all the desktop icons and use Glass 2K to make the application windows transparent to about a 40% level...I design all of my icons larger than 800 X 800 pixels in Photoshop, resize them and save them as .pngs. I can also, with the help of a plug in ,save these as .icos...I appreciate your suggestion, but there is only so much gray matter to fill with design application knowledge, so I think I'll just stick with what I know.

Alright, fine with me

While I understand sticking with what you know (I don't skin yet cuz the crayons mess up my screen), Icon Developer will give you the various icon size automatically with the ability to rework/replace a size if needed (like the 16x16s that turn out crappy) or pick/add custom sizes. You set it to your edtor of choice (in your case PS).

If you have ODNT or the paid ID, the size of creation goes up to 256x256.

Even if you don't use it for icon creation, it can be useful.

Create your png via PS, save it. right click on it and open with ID. Then you will have a quick idea of how the various icon sizes will look and which ones will need a touchup/rework for any particular size.

While I don't show the desktop icons myself, once in a while I use DTX with some object/icons. I like the individual sizing and it's easier with icons for that than png.  But, I also prefer png for ODock.

I'm just Trolling, but trying to keep it on a positive note....

not trying to bu "un-postitive" here bichur, honestly...just 'splainin how I do things...another reason I do things the way I do is that I am currently waiting on my rich uncle to get out of the poor house so I can afford more tools...until then I have to make a decision between food and design software. (got the current software by going completely off my perscription meds...can you tell?)
You have some valid points in that post up there...and someday I will build an entire studio and just develop the coolest icons imaginable, but for today, well, lets just say I got to have peanut butter.

dint mean to imply you were bean unpositive.  just meant I was trying to Troll positively.

docks don't need icons anyway, png works best (for me anyway).

just curious along the lines of comment 756 also.  I don't have PS (I have PSP8), when you save as ico in PS are there different sizes or one size or do you combine the sizes together?

Hey guys! Great stuff all of you are doing here!

I have an easy request if anyone wants to do it. I'd like a UFC icon and png. [link="http://www.ufc.com/"]http://www.ufc.com/">Link
